School History
In the late 1950s, with the assistance of the Hong Kong Council of the Church of Christ in China, Cheung Chau Church built two classrooms at the current site and opened Kam Kong Kindergarten. With an objective to spread the word of God and serve the community of Cheung Chau, we aim to nurture children in the way they should go. As the government expanded Cheung Chau and built public housing estates which led to an increase in the population of the island, the demand for kindergarten places increased accordingly. In order to meet such increased demand, the School Management Committee began to expand its school premises in the early 1988. The new school building was completed in 1990 and has been in use today. In addition to the thematic teaching activities designed by its teachers every school year, the school also places a strong emphasis on cultivating students' physical, social, emotional development and Christian Belief. In order to strengthen its connection with parents, the church and the Parent-Teacher Association that was established in 2003 have been jointly organizing parent-child activities, lectures and outdoor activities. Both parents and students have actively participated in these events. Since 2002, the school and the church have co-organized theme-based morning assemblies on a regular basis with an aim to strengthen the spiritual development of students. Starting from the same year, the school has employed native speakers as teachers to conduct Putonghua and English lessons in a bid to strengthen students' abilities in biliteracy and trilingualism, thereby helping them to establish a solid foundation for and interest in lifelong learning.
